    I am considering getting a HD-DVD player, and was unable to find any reference that could answer the question: Do the Toshiba HD-DVD players support MPG/AVI/WMV data disc playback?

    Don't waste your money on HD-DVD. Take a look at PS3:

    NONE of the currently available HD-DVD players play anything other than DVD, CD audio and HD-DVD.

    None of the currently available BluRay players play anything but DVD, CD audio and BluRay.
