I'm using WinAvi, and I like it apart from one problem. My movies are comming out with low sound during Voice. So I learned how to adjust the AC3 filter to make the Voices on my movies louder. Which did work, but then it cause the Voice to be out of sync, so essentially I got rid of one problem, and ended up with another. Does anyone have a resolution for this problem please?

As I pointed out in your other post, if the AC3 is DVD compliant, there should be no need for WinAVI to touch it.

WinAVI is about as low on the totem pole of video encoders as you can get without actually digging a hole for it. It is unreliable, non-compliant, and basically a rip-off.

If you want speed, use ConvertXtoDVD. It is slightly slower than WinAVI (maybe 5 minutes slower per movie), more reliable, and won't butcher your files.

FAVC is higher quality than ConvertXtoDVD, also reliable, and won't screw with compliant AC3 audio. It is a slower than ConvertXtoDVD, but that is the price you pay for quality. That said, if you think WinAVI produces a quality outcome, it doesn't really matter what you use.

Nope. I use AVIDemux on the few occasions that I need to join files.

@OP, I agree with guns1linger, FAVC is great for free!..I also occasionally use DVDFlick to merge avi's ...but I think ConvertXtoDVD does let you merge as well, not sure though..They have a try before you buy...try it !.....

Current version of ConvertXtoDVD doesn't let you mrge files. You get two titles.

Must all files merged be of exactly the same format like VirtualDub for convertxtodvd or avidemux?

AVIDemux is more flexible than Virtualdub in that it allows variable bitrate MP3 audio to be joined.

As for DVD Flick, the following cut directly from the guide that ships with it.

When you have two or more video files that split parts of a longer movie, you can combine these together into one title in DVD Flick. The only requirements are that the video files all are of the same dimensions and framerate.
