Ditch WinAVI. It is a very poor excuse for a piece of software. I hope that you didn't pay for it (I suspect that 99% of it's users don't actually pay for it).

    Try AVIDemux or AlltoAVI instead

Since WinAVI is a commercial product, a customer should be entitled to some kind of support from the manufacturer, one might think?

WinAVI offer two forms of support. One is through email, which they never answer, and the other is to suggest you install k-lite and then come here for help. Substandard product with substandard support.

If you really want a solution and won't change products, you need to either continue to pursue WinAVI support, or wait patiently for the next version and hope that it fixes your problem while not introducing too many new ones.

Since we seem to be WinAVIs 'backup' support, you might try a all forum search for ' WinAVI sound problems ' (124 hits) or just ' WinAVI problems ' (324 hits). If the problem is repeatable and has happened to others, there may be a solution out there.

How many 'cores' you have may effect speed of conversion, but should have nothing to do with errors.

You would also want to get the exact text of the errors. The '1024' sounds more like a framesize/resolution problem than a file size problem. No audio might be related to the format of the original audio.

You should be able to look at both the original file and the WinAVI outputted file with Gspot 2.70 and you may have a clue there. Some audio formats like OGM, AC3 may cause problems. Variable audio bitrate and variable video bitrate files can cause conversion problems. Or you could process the audio separately and just do the video with WinAVI.
