I was told that MovieBox Plus will work with Pinnacle Studio 11 and Avid Liquid (so I hope that is correct). I currently have a Hauppauge WinTV PVR PCI 150. Cyberlink PowerDirector and Vegas 7.0 do not detect the card (neither does Pinnacle, that's why I want/must switch to MovieBox).

My question is this: besides Pinnacle, will MovieBox Plus work with Cyberlink PowerDirector and Vegas 7.0 also?

I want to transfer some old VHS tapes onto DVD, and both Vegas and Pinnacle do not accept the card I have since it has an on-board MPEG decoder. So do you think MovieBox Plus is the answer to my problems?

    Thank you _very_ much.

Use the Hauppauge software for capture then import the files into you editing software.... That card is highly recommended so I wouldn't go off buying something else, especially a Pinnacle product. Just to add it appears from the specs on Pinnacles site that's a hardware MPEG encoder too, you won't be purcahsing anything more that you already have and most lilkely will be taking a step backward.

Since the Hauppauge is MPEG hardware encoder you should be using software designed to work with MPEG to edit the video you capture. Not familiar with the products you mentioned so I'll leave it to someone else to tell you if the support native MPEG editing.

A native MPEG editor will only reencode portions of the video you have edited, such as where you have added transitions. the bulk of the video data doesn't change. This has too main benefits, 0 quality loss from the original capture and it speeds the process up quite a bit.

This may provide some insight: http://www.nepadigital.com/articles/analog-capture.php
