  1. Nero has stopped working again. As it did before it gets to 7% and stops and has an error something like "SCSI device timed out". It has done this before I did a clean tool reinstall and it worked, but so far it hasnt this time. Any ideas what it could be or whats an alternative I can use to burn jpegs, avi's, etc?

From the info you offered it's hard to tell if it's really Nero at fault. What version of Nero are u using? 6.x? 7.x?? Is that a full-fledged Nero from a box or it came bundled with some h/w (DVD-rewriter)?? What IS your h/w (mobo, processor, memory, DVD-rewriter)? What are you trying to create? DVD videos?? DVD-ROMs?? Nero is no angel. For the bloatware that it is, it's regularly thrashed left & right, fore & aft. In the majority of Nero cases I have encountered though, it wasn't Nero at fault. If you know what its limitations & capabilities are, it has its moments. For example, I NEVER use Nero for recording & creating DVD-video images. That's best left to ImageBurn.
For the nth time, with the possible exception of certain Intel processors, I don't have/ever owned anything whose name starts with "i".

If I remember right, there is a cut-down version of Nero that comes bundled with promotions and isn't worth the plastic it is burned on. As far the full-blown version is concerned, I have been using it for years strictly for burning music, data, copying programs and videos and honestly can't remember a coaster.

Imgburn in build mode for dvdvideo. For data use Folder2iso to create an iso then imgburn to burn. Have had very good results with those programs. Both freeware.

  6. I am using Nero 7.0 on an older win98 computer. The reason I think it is something with nero is because the same thing happened with moms computer. We thought it was tthe drive, and installed a new one but it still did the same. It would get to about 7% and stop. Used clean unistall tool and it worked perfect. Had to do the same for mine, and it made it work, but this time it isnt working.
