ImgBurn for data CDs and all DVDs

For audio CDs, this is good: http://www.burrrn.net/?page_id=4

If by "make CD" you mean to make audio CDs, there's no reason to not use Nero. I suggest using ImgBurn as much as anybody here, but honestly for audio CDs the truth is that Nero is fine. It's also OK for data discs and burning image files. Our big objection is using Nero to make VCD/SVCD/DVD and in those specific cases it's better not to use Nero. There are valid technical reasons for not using Nero to make VCD/SVCD/DVD but the explanation is long so I'll not post it here.

nero is fine for audio cds but there are free options, cdburnerxp is a 3 meg free download with a " simple and clean gui", that does the same thing as nero. Why should i pay for nero when i get the same for free?

    Cdburnerxp:
    audio/data cds
    data/video dvds

ImgBurn also burns audio CD's from various sources.

  11. Nero's okay for audio CDs, nothing else, IMO.

You need to keep it on a short leash, though. I use the custom install for Nero 7 Essentials (came with a burner) and select only the core app and StartSmart. Nevertheless, it installs Nero Scout, a really evil accessory that's turned on by default.

Turn off Nero Scout and disable NM Indexing in Services. Unless you like having your hard drives thrash constantly.
    Pull! Bang! Darn!

I ran a few test after burning some DVD's in the past, and ImgBurn is literally better than most of the pricey burn software and it's free.
