    Hey guys (and gals?),

New member here, I have been using the info in this forums for a while, I have learned how to burn dvds that will actually work with my dvd player, and found programs to edit various video formats and even monkey a little bit with more technical things (although to be honest I don't really know all that much, I realize). Mostly simple stuff.

I looked at the other posts in here and searched around, but it seemed the other questions were way more involved than what I needed (and frankly I got lost half the time as to what was going on)

Here is my issue: So I have some DVDs that were made some time ago from old VHS I had (recorded from late 80s into the 90s) I didn't do it, so I don't know what program or process was used.

For the most part the quality is pretty good. (I was trying to make a small clip to post for you all to see exactly the quality, but apparently, I don't know that much yet, for some reason I could not get it to work)

Maybe a little audio noise (not anything particular, just needs some background noise reduction), but by and large what you would expect from a good conversion to DVD. (no lines, static, etc. picture pretty darn good when still, gets a little noticeable noise with motion)

I wanted to see if there was anything readily usable to "clean it up" a bit on my pc (and probably edit a bit while I am at it-maybe even combine parts of 2 or 3 dvds into 1). I was looking into something like Ulead's VideoStudio, but I really know nothing here, so that might not be what I am looking for.

Hopefully something that can work with the format right from the DVD and output a DVD on the other side (of course putting an intermediate on my HD is not a problem). I don't need to do anything drastic, just up the quality as much as possible, and maybe turn down the non-specific noise on the audio.

    Any suggestions?

I know this way more basic than most of you are used to but that is why I knew you all would know what I could/should do.

    Thanks!
