    i am trying to join 3 xvid files together , convert, authour and place on a single dvd,, i know how to convert and authour but am having probs joining? the reason being the files are all differing ,qualities does anyone know of a program that will do this, as all i have tried just give error :- not compatible,, or another way around the problem without losing to much quality,,,,,,,,,,,,Thanks for any help

    Don't join the AVIs. (If they aren't identical specificationswise, they can't be joined anyway.)
    Encode each separately, and bring them together as one title when you author. (In TDA you add all mpg files to the same title and remove the chapter point at the joins.)
    Or take the fast lane, and use convertx2dvd

    mats advice is good, however if you wish to experiment, try AVI Demux. It seems to work with files that virtualdub turns it's nose up at.
