Well at one time I was up to 315, but that was a few years ago.

I haven't maxed for a long time, but I think some where around 265 or so.

    Here are my stats:

Strength Level: Supreme2k possesses superhuman strength, enabling him to lift (press) 85 tons. Supreme2k's strength grew considerably over the initial years of his career. At one early point in his life, for example, he could only lift (press) 5 tons.

Work hard and work safe while benching and dont be concerned what other can do just try to focus on doing better than the day before.

Doing supplimental lifts like bent over row and cable curl rows and tricep push downs also help boost your bench

300 in my prime (now it would be in my dreams) I have joint pains. The last time I even tried to bench, my spotters idea of spotting was to put two fingers on the bar and lift a little bit. (My left elbow felt like it was about to explode) When I finally got it to the hooks I wanted to kill that SOB! He thought that he was doing me a favor and helping me train, when all I wanted was out from under!

In construction I still get to do some heavy work sometimes. But alot of it has to do more with technique or form. Some people just can't swing a 85lb peice of sheetrock around without busting the corners on the floor or walls, and forget about overhead. Being 6'-2" may give me some leverage advantage sometimes, but we got a couple of little guys that can handle the hell out of sheetrock.

I have never been a jock or had the time or ambition to devote that much time to weight training. But I have always liked the Strongman competions where they pick up rocks or drag battleship anchors. To me these are more like real world challenges. (Like I mean I have to drag that anchor around the yard all the time). I also like the Scottish Highland games with the pitch fork throwing the bag over the bar and the log toss. (Seen a judges tent get taken out one time on a bad toss, lucky that nobody got killed!)

Anyhow back on topic, give me some 100 proof and a cutie pie to impress and I think that I could do 300lbs again. (But I would be crippled up for a few days to follow!)

every day at work, I go out on my lunch and bench my car 10 or 20 times.
i'm trying to lose a little weight, so I figure doing this instead of eating lunch oughta do the trick....

Back when I was in high school I could do my weight (220 at the time) for quite a few reps, maybe maxed at 250. I was a swimmer in high school so tone was more important that muscle mass though. Now I can really only max at 220, reps at 180. I'm starting to feel old just writing this

I can bench 285 lbs. Normal reps 220.
I work out 4 days a week. 40 minutes of cardio, 15 minutes of circuit training and 20 minutes of bench work.

I also can bench press 50 lbs with my tongue.

Nothing wrong with that. To each his own.

I was up to 40 oz.'s in my youth but now only 12 oz.'s at a time. I have endurance though and can do about 16 to 20 repetitions at that weight.

If your goal is power, and not size, then keep your sets and reps low. say 2 sets of 4, going to failure (that last rep being hard as hell to lift) Don't work it everyday, 2x a week is enough (For that muscle group).

Work the rest of your body too, not just your chest, or upper-body. Do a full-body workout and you'll gain strength all over. Split it over 3 days, and go for a high intesty workout.

And EAT like a MOFO!! You don't eat, you don't get big, you don't bench more.

Beaver's is on the money if you want more strength that would be a good plan (I lean more on the side to 4-5 reps though)

Here are some good sites with more info

I would stick with 4 IMO. If you can hit 5 then I would suggest upping the weight, even if it's just a pound or 2. But that's if you're going for strength.

Also, to the original poster...remember that strength and size have nothing to do with each other. If you're looking to get BIG then you want to increase your reps and sets to about 4 sets of 6 to 8 reps.

    Best advice right there.

Strength is in the technique, not the amount of weight.

In my physiology class back in the late 90's anything from 0-6 reps was considered anaerobic and anything over 6 was considered aerobic exercise. Or so Dr. Whatever the hell her name was, said.

So Kenmaster, as you've been told, keep it to 4-5 reps, no more than 6 to build size.

    Simple rule -
high weight, low rep = bigger, more powerful muscles
lower weight, high rep = thinner, better defined muscles

    @ps2daddy - do you supplement?

I coach football and our kids are always into one supplement or the other. We discourage it but you know what that's like. I always try to try all the supplements the kids are using and I try to do as much research on them as I can.

    Our most common supplements are:

    Creatine - EAS Phosphagen
    Cell-Tech
    Pro-Complex Whey Protein
