DUDE! PUSH, BREATHE, REPEAT! My respect.

I have never really been into the straight weight lifting scene, but like I said before, I do dig the strongman contest on ESPN. I have just got to get me an Atlas stone to play with And some Giants fingers too!

Last year I watched the show with my son and told him that those guys on TV weren't about squat and that I could out do any of them. We just happened to catch part of the semi finals and finals on TV the other night, and now I think he is calling my bluff

My kid picked an American, Jessie somebody to win, but he hadn't seen the Pol, Marius Puzinotski (SP) Now my seven year old owes me a million dollars! I can't wait to collect!
IS IT SUPPOSED TO SMOKE LIKE THAT?

I helped out with a strongman contest last year it was $70 to enter. (didnt have the $70 for that at the time

I had to put the 600lb tire back when they couldnt toss them
they also had atlas stones but all the guys put stickem on and the stones were pretty sticky so I didnt touch those (also had on sandals at the time)

Scott Mendelson increased his raw (non shirted)bench to a new world record 715lbs I thinkhe has about a 945lb in a shirt

Gene Rylachek still has the 1005lb record with a shirt on but he cant bench 715raw though

I used to Bench about 260 lbs. Once my son was born, I haven't done weights since. I'm sure my Clean & Jerk and standard lift has increased. Dang kid won't walk on his own. :P

I suck. I did some warm ups and decided to try myself on some weights. I'm maxed out at 210lbs. Hey, I haven't lifted weights since before my son was born. I'd have figured carrying my son all over would have increased my strength. :/

Back in the day (high school) I maxed at about 225 and weighed 125. Now I might be able to to 160, Im guessing since its been ages the last time i worked out.

I have got a son on the way myself (I do like lifting weights but that a child is a whole lot more important ) I am contemplating putting 4X45lb plates in the stroller with the boy and practicing my deadlift squat and benchpress though maybe get him a .5lb dumbell too)

  13. About 5 years ago I was into power lifting, the best bench I did was 412. I leg pressed 1000 pounds, 3 sets of ten for my leg work out. I was on a creatine and whey protein only. Ah the good old days! Meet my wife and all that changed! Just getting back into it. Bought a smith machine with a few attachments, can bench about 240 right now.

Somehow i doubt you "just started" working out, if you can bench 180lbs already... As that is A LOT for a so-called beginner.

I'm a big guy with a lot of potential for the sort of thing, but when i started seriously trying to lift for the first time in about october '06, i had a hard time with 135lbs.

Now after a few months of consistent lifting, my current max is 200lbs. I have not tried going any further lately as i thought i was kinda pushing it even at my particular pace. I guess i'll stick to 200lbs for another month and get used to it, before attempting 225lbs...

I use free weights on a bar BTW. None of that fixed-track, all-in-one unit crap, which is simply not as good as the "natural" free-weight style.
