I have read previous posts and cant find a solution

stuck, have 20 small asf clips to put on dvd, but all the encoders say 3 of them are duff and they crash the programs, tmpge says "Index of scan line is out of range". Tryed video fixer with no luck, tryed asftools different combinations, no luck. Windows media encoder gets as far as the error and stops . The three bad ones however do play all the way through! its so frustrating.

Is there anyway round this no matter how long it takes?

    Thanks for reading.

In my experience, asf files are typically low quality, conversion will just decrease the quality a bit more. Is it really worth the time and effort, especially when the few tools capable of working with asf files are telling you the files are corrupt?

EDIT: I believe one of the older versions of virtualdub worked with asf files.

But I don't hold out a lot of hope.

Here you go. You'll have to type a bit at the command line to set it up, but it'll work when other things won't.

Easier would be guns1nger's method (there's your website name) - opening it in VirtualDub - VirtualDubMPEG2 v1.6 supports WMV , btw.

DONE perfect DVD. All i needed was flashget! It downloaded the fastest and the file opened in EVERYTHING. I must have tryed 6-7 applications to download off the msn video mms urls. Flashget it the only one thats flawless for downloading Asf/wmv streams. So when someone next asks, you know what to tell them. thanks for all ypur help.

How did flashget, a download program, help you convert asf files?
