i can't get vc-1 to re-code is basically the head and tail of it... using tmpg enc 4 with shark codecs vc-1 loads up but in the view/cutting stage it has like white flecks in it?? super won't touch it.
This is a ripped m2ts, no problems at all with AVCHD m2ts files, anyone offer some advice? i did a search and came up with loads of stuff none of which was conclusive...

doesn't bdrebuilder use directshow? tmpg does too so i'd say i might get the same result..? never tried ripbot but mp4 would be fine just don't want a 23gb file on the mediacenter!

  4. ripbot defaults to directshow too , so if it's your directshow decoder at fault, you will likely get the same errors unless it's tmpg's fault

you can try ffmpegsource2 instead of whatever directshow decoder you are using

i'm on a core i3 system does anyone know if it's DXVA related ?? maybe the VC-1 hardware acceleration doesn't work...

  6. If you know your directshow configuration (what directshow decoder), you can test a script in avisynth with directshowsource() , and using graphstudio /graphedit

The VC-1 encoded blu-ray discs that commonly cause headaches are interlaced VC-1 , but those are rare (some discs like concerts use them) , even so you can use directshowsource() if you decode through the default windows wmv decoder . FFDshow's libavcodec cannot decode interlaced VC-1 correctly

I'm not sure what tmpgenc is using , but you can use other decoders (not dxva) if you use other methods

i've tried selecting the two options for decoding the vc-1, one is windows media the other (libavcodec?) something along them lines neither plays properly.. tbh i've tried allsorts and am not particularly new to encoding but this has got me stumped!!

  8. are your specs correct? winxp ?

do you have wmp11 installed ?

disable ffdshow decoding for vc-1 , and render the file in graphstudio , and see what decoder is being used?

how are you viewing/testing this ? through playback software (which one) or through tmpgenc ? It's possible tmpgenc is screwing things up

Do you see problems playing it back through playback software? e.g. mpchc

  10. pdvd9 uses cyberlink decoder . I don't use tmpgenc, so someone else will have to help you

I had good luck with StaxRip.
The file I had was a sample from the Internet, WMV, VC1, progressive 1080p.

I encoded it in Staxrip to 720p. I believe Staxrip makes use of an Avisynth script specifying directshow()
Decoder used was standard Windows Media.

the file in question is an m2ts bd rip vc-1 windows media won't play it although it will avchd m2ts so i'm guessing wm vc-1 codec won't cut the mustard...

I would try to remux from the m2ts file to a temporary MKV,
check if it plays fine in MPC-Homecinema,
then would create an appropriate Avisynth script for x264.exe

windows media won't play it although it will avchd m2ts
so i'm guessing wm vc-1 codec won't cut the mustard...
WMP + Windows 7 = Media Foundation, NOT DirectShow.

If there still exists a WMV9 DMO decoder in Windows 7,
"DirectShowSource()" will work as it should.

What resolution are you encoding it to? Can you provide a small sample of the source ?

decided to try handbrake and it worked straight away... why handbrake works where tmpg doesn't with the same directshow install is anybodys guess...
