Hi,
a friend of mine said that thereis in the market an external HD which allows to see what is inside ( DVD, DIVx) directly on the TV.
Is that true? If yes, any suggestion?

Yes they exist ... go to ebay , computers , storage drives and discs , other .
You'll find a couple about ... some support upto 500gig drives ... multiple formats , support pal/nstc output . -

Another option might be the Philips DVP 5960 Divx/DVD player and a standard external USB2 hard drive. The 5960 has a USB port you can connect the drive to. Not all drives work though:
