  1. I have a new Gateway GT5220 computer. I would like to use the Away Mode feature. My keyboard does not have a sleep button. Is there any way of activating the Away Mode with a standard keyboard?

Away Mode will just mute the sound and turn-OFF the display.... set the power button and sleep button to 'Do nothing" in power options. Then you can use the set it to Away Mode with MCE remote or if you have a standby or power button on keyboard, you can use it.

The main usage of Away Mode is to give user the same affect as traditional TV, i.e. when you hit power button on remote then it should be turned OFF immediately. Away mode will give you the same effect by instantly turning OFF display and muting sound.
If you have standby enabled then it will first enter Away Mode and the will go to standby in the background (while display if OFF)... the only difference is that user wont see the "Entering standby" message and 5-10 second delay before entering standby.

Intel Quick Resume Technology in Intel Viiv PCs will also do the same thing....
