What would cause some of my homemade discs to show the DVD structure files duplicated in File Mode (two separate, almost identical VTS titles), effectively doubling the size of the disc when ripping in file mode? ISO read mode shows and rips the proper size file, but ripping in File Mode doubles the space used on my harddrive. Not sure if I'm explaining this clearly, so here is an example:
ISO Read Mode:
Sessions: 1
Sectors: 2,272,752
Size: 4,654,596,096 bytes
File Mode:
VIDEO_TS.IFO 12 KB
VIDEO_TS.VOB 72 KB
VIDEO_TS.BUP 12 KB
VTS_01_0.IFO 84 KB
VTS_01_1.VOB 1,048,544 KB
VTS_01_2.VOB 1,048,544 KB
VTS_01_3.VOB 1,048,544 KB
VTS_01_4.VOB 1,048,544 KB
VTS_01_5.VOB 317,248 KB
VTS_01_0.BUP 84 KB
VTS_02_0.IFO 80 KB
VTS_02_1.VOB 1,048,544 KB
VTS_02_2.VOB 1,048,544 KB
VTS_02_3.VOB 1,048,544 KB
VTS_02_4.VOB 1,048,544 KB
VTS_02_5.VOB 317,248 KB
VTS_02_0.BUP 80 KB
17 files
9,023,272 KB
EDIT: After ripping the ISO, the file structure shows the same in ISO Buster as well in the ripped image.

Not if I want to backup the entire DVD contents, including menus.

IFO mode shows the titles duplicated as well, except that VTS1 shows 2 2:00 PGCs, and VTS2 shows 2 0:30 PGCs, when in reality there are only 1 of each.

What is reported in Windows Explorer when you right-click on the the VIDEO_TS folder?
If the disc is unencrypted then simply drag and drop to your desktop.
Try DVDFab Decrypter and see what it reports. -
The two titles reference the same VOB files. To rip them as two separate titles each title gets a copy of the VOBs. It's like having the table of contents in a book where the chapters reference the same pages. Chapter 1 = pages 3 to 50, Chapter 2 = pages 3 to 50, etc.
