problem with LG dvd burner.

Hi.Mine burner wont read any discs.It did yesterday now all i hear is a noise from inside like it tries to read it or something.Anybody know what could cause it?

Could it be that the laser got damage?

I had a problem in the past with a cheap Apex 1200 dvd player and the lens was stuck.

I saw a web site with people who had a lot of the same problem.

You open the dvd player and just push the lens sligthy.

Then after the problem was solved.
Maybe its the lens taht is dirty.

If your player is still under warranty dont do it! Send it back.

Mine was a cheap one, thats why i tried it.

Cool but my problem is with a dvd writer not a dvd player.Tomorrow i will use a lens cleaning cd and see if it helps.

remove and reinstall it (in dev. manager), if no help you may tinker with it for a while but what's dead is dead. Drives are cheap...

dev.manager??You mean take out out and unpluge it,then plug it again.I can't reinstall the software cause i have it on a cd and that writer was my only cd/dvd rom

right click on it in dev. manager and uninstall then reboot. google for "dvd won't read" I recall seeing once a patch to reset the drive, possibility is it's dead but maybe you will be able to revive it somehow.

Your drive may need lubrication. There are detailed instructions available there.

XP should be able to reload the driver for your drive without a CD. It certainly can for my LG drives.

Sorry I can't help you...

But I do have a problem of my own with a new LG Burner I got that came with my new notebook. I am using a LG DVD-RAM GMA 4082-N trying to burn a Memorex DVD+R DL (its the only DL media I could find at the time). When I input the media in the drive and burn with Nero my drive tells me it is not a DVD DL but rather a CD-R. Is this problem most likely due to the media or do I need to update firmware? Any help would be appreciated!
