mpeg playback problem

i have 2 problems:

when i play the mpeg file in WMP 7.1 that i converted from an avi file, the progress bar goes right to the end in about 5 seconds after playing the file, that means i can't fast forward it.
the file was converted to PAL with TMPGEnc 12a.

my second problem is that there's some green-purple line at the bottom of the screen.

This might be a long shot, but if you happen to have installed WinDVD or LSX Suite, I suggest you try to Uninstall it and see if that fixes your problem, as I have heard of the green line with many people who have installed either one of those applications.

i don't have any of the programs installed, but i found out that i only get that green line when i convert files to pal (doesn't matter anyway coz when i play them on my dvd player u can't c them), and for the media player progress bar, i don't have a clue.

I sugget you try using the Media Player proprties on your MPG file and see what are teh codecs being used to do the playback.
