Trying to help my friend to remove NAV 2005 from his son's PC.

Couldn't do it using Add/Remove Program. Anyone know how to remove it from the registry ?

Your help will very much appreciated. Thanks.

  2. There is a live unintaller that runs in your browser from symantec's site that will uninstall everything. Unfortunately they make it hard as hell to find the link to it. I recall searching their site for at least an hour before I found it last time.

    Thanks @Poppa_Meth,
    I found the link...
    http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/nav.nsf/docid/2004082712005006
I didn't manage to get it to work.

So I download the Symnrt from here...
    http://www.techspot.com/downloads/1437-norton-removal-tool-symnrt.html

    I did it with...
    1. Stop & disable all NAV & Symantec services at Admin Tools
    2. Run Symnrt tool

  4. Glad you got it resolved. I think the second link is the older tool that worked better. The newer one was a pain and I barely got it to work.

    Yes, that works.
I did the same thing few weeks ago.
I managed to uninstall NAV 2005 with Add/Remove, though, but some Norton stuff remained (WMI Update), so I run Symnrt and all was gone.
I'm testing NOD32 now. Seems better and the computer is more responsive.
I loved NAV and used it for 5 years without a single issue.

  6. Kaspersky is another good one to test. NOD32 is good but I've heard their support stinks if you ever have to call for anything.
