I am not sure if I am in the right forum but here goes.

I have a cyberhome DVR1600. I also have a JVC video camera. I am supposed to be able to hook the camera up to the front ports on the dvr and select the source as the front port and insert a blank dvd and format it and press play and then record and have the video from the camera recorded onto the dvd. For some reason I keep having the same problems, it either will not finalize the disk or the dvr locks up. It locks up always at the same point on the counter 02:26. I actually have to unplug the dvr to reset it.

When the DVR locks up the video on the camera continues to play.

Am I doing anything wrong? Does anyone have any experience with this unit. I have tried to contact Cyberhome and I get a recording that their email and phone services are not working and then get cut off. I have gone to the web page and there was some downloads there for firmware but I am not sure how I would install them. Any help would be wonderful. Thank you all in advance.

The time is that 2 hours and 26 minutes or 2 minutes and 26 seconds? What brand of DVD's are you using? Could be the Media.

Khypermedia and Imagine, I think are pretty unrelliable media. I would look at getting some Verbatim or Fuji Media to test with. I would even buy a 5 pack of DVD+RW to test with first. Good luck..

Here's a Great guide to the different media

Not to trash anyboby. The cyberhome dvr-1600 is a very bogy unit I had one for about a month and ended up changing it. If you look at the back of the unit there is no cooling fan. that causes the unit to over heat and malfuntion. If you decide to keep the unit make sure that is well ventilated and maybe even have a fan or something blowing cool air to it.
    I want to believe....
