If I am using dvd shrink and want to just do the movie portion, what do I do if there are two movies. My current project has under main movie "Movie 1 and Movie 19" the first is 3834 MB and the second 3201 MB. Is one wide screen and the other normal. Does it matter which one I pull over to reencode?

If the movie has widescreen and full screen choose the one you want then let shrink do it's thing.

    Thanks for the reply
The movie never gave me the choice of widescreen or regular.
The DVD player can't pick it for you can it?
Both movies are the exact same time span so I can only assume they are the same movie.
For some reason I can't get either to work in the preview screen.
    So...

Another Shrink question: What is the meaning and effect of the option "Enable remapping of embedded streams ?"

    Embedded streams ?

    IMSC it's "enabled streams", isn't it ?

AFAIK this means that if the default audio is 0x80 (normally the case, and is AC3 5.1ch for example) but you deselect this and only select 0x81 (AC3 2ch), then it will remap 0x81 to 0x80 in the output so that it will automatically play the correct audio (AC3 2ch) without you having to manually select 0x81 (Stream 2) using your DVD remote.

As for the OP, play the DVD in PowerDVD or other software DVD player on your computer and see which title number it plays when it gets to the main movie. You can also check the IFO in IFOEdit and see which VTS's Titles 1 and 19 point to, then check the physical sizes of the VOBs for each of those VTS's. Sometimes what you are experiencing could just be branching (using the exact same footage in two different sequences), or offering different angles, or the movie with the Director's commentary selected by default, or anything really.
    If in doubt, Google it.

    Yes, quite so.

Thanks. Then I take it there is no good reason not to leave this box checked as a default ? If one makes use of it fine; if not, no harm done ?

The only harm done is that those who are unaware of the "Audio" button on their remote may pop in a DVD with the first (default) audio removed, and wonder why they are not getting any sound. All they have to do is press the Audio button (or alternatively, use the DVD's audio selection menu, if present) - more of a time-consuming annoyance than anything else really.

Of course with a bit of wizardry in something like PGCEdit or DVDRemake or IFOEdit you could configure the second (or any other, for that matter) stream to be the default. It's a matter of whether you could be bothered to go to those lengths I guess - I find it easier just to let DVDShrink remap the streams if necessary.
    If in doubt, Google it.
