  1. Hi! I know that there are a lot of programs out there that say they can remove imbedded subtitles.

Does anyone know if there is a program that can remove them if they are placed insided a colored box, like the picture here for example?

    Thanks!!!!

There are? I sure haven't heard of too many.

Hardsubs are a part of the actual frame data. What's underneath is GONE. Obliterated. You can take the image of the sub and try to overlay it with something, then apply some sort of smoother, but it'll still be quite noticeable. It's not like removing spraypaint.

  3. Yeah, if you go to "Tools" and type in "subtitles" it will bring up a number of programs, several of which say they can remove subtitles. I was curious about the effectiveness of these programs.

  4. Looks like closed captions to me.

  5. Is there a difference between "closed captions" and "subtitles" if neither can be removed?

No, not in this case. Closed Captions are transmitted as a signal between the frames and is unique to NTSC standard. Subtitles are typically some sort of overlay, not an embedded signal.
