Does the DVCII work in your system? If not, it sounds like the problem I've read where the DVCII doesn't work with some AMD based motherboards. I myself have an AMD and a DVCII and don't have any problems, but I think my motherboard is one that is ok. -
my motherboard is a sis 735 ddr chipset technical support didnt think it was the motherboard most times it takes about 1 hr to get thim on the phone.I was told to try diableing DMA in the bios but do not know how or the steps to doing that.

Are you using WindowsXP? XP has a pretty common "disappearing CD drive" issue. Logical drives seem to disappear on some systems, requiring a reboot. And it does not recognize burners as burners sometimes. See the http://www.ntcompatible.com boards for a good thread on this. Basically the fix is to install the CDRW patch, remove the patch, then reinstall the patch. It fixed my problems.
This may or may not be your problem (related to the DVC2).
