I bought a Dazzle Vid Creator Plus, and have tried a quite a few different settings to capture vids from my DVR 625 sat box, using composite hardwire. All 3 trial attempts left vids and sound out of sync, to different degrees. On the 3rd attempt, I even pulled the coax to the TV, thinking output strength might be an issue. Nope.
I haven't played the vids in an editor app, only in MPC, and Nero player. Both were equally OOS.
Any ideas? Would an S-vid line and audio composite do any better?
Will a TV tuner card with a coax input do better at capturing vids and maintaining quality?
edit:
I'm reading a few reviews that say to NOT use a laptop. I was using a Dell D600 1.6Ghz 1G ram. I do have an HP 2.2G x2 64bit 2G ram; would that make a difference in sync???

I booted up XPPro 32bit on the HP 2.2G x2 64bit 2G ram, and Dazzle didn't pick up the USB input.
Then I booted VistaHP 64bit - same machine - and still had OOS vids and audio.
This Dazzle gig took me for a C-bill + change at BestBuy. Shouldn't you get more for 3 figures?
Anybody with input on a tuner card with coax input??? -
I've had some success with the Hauppauge WinTV HVR 1850. It has coax, s-video and composite inputs. The downside is that its MPEG2 capture only and user control is pretty much non-existent in WinTV 7.0. I tried using WinTV 6.0 and the registry hack to access the advanced features, but it apparently does not work with the 1850.
