So, I bought this thing for like $14 bucks. I just wanted something to play around with...like recording Fox News segments. It works fairly well but the software that comes with it leaves little to be desired. Maximum capture size is 720X576. I am plugged into my Dish HD receiver. The software is Ulead Video Studio 10.0.01.10.0 SE DVD. It's Copyright is 1992-2006.

When you fire it up, it takes over the desktop. You cannot move or change the size of the Window. You can only minimize it.

Also, start and starting captures is not very fluid. You get a blank screen for a second or two before capture actually start.
Maybe it's some settings that I am not aware of? Or maybe it's the crappy software?

Is there any other software that will work with the USB device? I think Corel bought Ulead? They have a Video Studio X4? Is that a better choice? to the HHow about Sony Vegas?

For that matter, what would be a better alternative to the Ulead Video Studio software?

    Thanks,

    Ray

So I downloaded Corel VideoStudio Pro 14 (VideoStudio Pro X4).
The video capture interface is pretty much the same as Ulead VideoStudio.
The USB 2.0 ATV is there in the Source drop down menu in Corel.
However, when I try to choose it, it immediately goes back to
the USB 2.0 UVC WebCam choice? Don't know why. At this time
it is not working at all with the Sabrent device.

I have some suggestions, though I don't know if any will work with this device. If it has WDM drivers, you could try AMCap, AmaRecTV, Stoik Video Capture, DScaler, VirtualVCR or Virtualdub.

I have heard of VirtualDub so I tried it. There's major problem with audio sync with the video. I emailed the author.

Next I tried Stoik. Much better. Audio and Video is sync'd.

    Thanks,
