  1. Ok, i'm making a little short video w/ my own audio. I have 3 songs mixed together and am having problems w/ one song.

I have 3 mp3's. All three are 128kbps, 2 channel stereo, and 44khz audio sampling. But when I try to do a simple multiplex w/ my video and audio, I get the 'illegal audio stream' error. So I tested each song individually and found the one that it won't accept. I have tried converting the mp3 to mp2, to wav and then back to mp3. Whenever I convert it to mp2, TMPGenc will accept it but the mp2 file has some extra noise in the song. Same w/ wav, I converted it to WAV, and it sounded good, but since TMPGenc doesn't work w/ WAV files I then converted it back to mp3 and it worked, but w/ extra noise.

I DO have the codec or plugin or whatever that allows TMPgenc to use MP3 files. I have used mp3 files of the same quality and they have worked. Why would I get errors w/ this one song? I even downloaded a different quality version of the same song and tried it and got the same error.

    Any help would be appreciated.

The joys of downloading poorly compressed music.

Can you play back the original song ? If so, you can record the playback using something like audacity or soundforge, and save a new version.

If you can't play it back then it is obviously too corrupted to be of use. Find a different track, or buy the CD it comes from.

TMPGEnc probably doesn't allow multiplexing of mp3's since it isn't exactly spec compliant. There is a cl multiplexer that does. Can't remember the name though.

  4. Yes, I can playback the original format and it sounds perfectly fine. It's when I change file formats that I get the extra noise. But it won't multiplex in it's original format. I actually merge the 3 mp3's with Goldwave, which works. I have been able to multiplex mp3 audio w/ video w/o any problems via TMPGenc. I guess I could try Audiocity or the other.

    Thanks!
