  1. Has anyone tried the DVD+R DL from Fujifilm? It's available at Best Buy this week...

I'm sure BB, or OfficeMax, Office Depot, etc., will have the Verbatim DL on sale next week or the week afterwards. Usually about once a month. They cost about $2 apiece when on sale. I would wait and buy those since the seem to be the most reliable DL on market today.

Can't help you with the Fuji, but why take chances. Wait and buy the best.

  3. True that, Prot. I've got about 60 blank Verbatim DL's locked and loaded (result of buying them wehenever I spotted them on sale). I was just wondering about the Fuji's since I've never seen them before. I'm kinda bummed at how slowly other disc manufacturers have been to hop on the DL bandwagon. I suppose it's because they're waiting to see what comes out of the Blu-Ray/HD-DVD fracas. Personally, I believe the more manufacturers of DL media there are out there, the faster the overall price will come down. It's time for these things to be hitting the sub $2 mark, for real!

I agree about that $2 price. The regular price should be that by now, even or even at $3 apiece, and sale prices under $1.

Buy a 3 pack of the Fuji and see how well they work in your burner, altho I would buy their SL only if it was MIJ. I would not take a Memorex if it was given to me.

  9. Here is a test of the one of these Fujifilm Ritek D01's. I did a capture from a new Panasonic DMR-ES35V combo unit in XP mode for 56 minutes on side 1 and 28 minutes on side 2. I should have filled up side 2 with additional video just to see how it would perform near the second edge.

16X Fuji +Rs (Made in Taiwan) work great if you burn them at 4X or 8X. I hope they go on sale again soon as they are the only discs other than Taiyo Yuden that burn in my Daytek DP-30/Liteon 5001 at HQ speed. They were nice and cheap at $30CAD/100 compared to the TYs at $25CAD/50...

  11. It looks like Sam's Club is stepping ahead of the game on this one. This weekend, I saw that Sam's are selling 30-pack (basically 3 10-packs taped together) Verbatim DVD+R DL for $59. It's the first brick-'n'-mortar place that I've seen to offer those things for 2 bucks apiece and NOT be on sale or by rebate. Can this mean we're finally seeing some movement towards the sub-$2 direction for these discs??
