Hi I have been out of video editing for a heck of along time (2003-2005) so I am almost back to square one or two. The last video editors I have on my computer are Video Studio 10 & also 11, then there's the Windows XP Movie Maker (comes installed together), and I have an old copy of Adobe Premiere Pro 1.5 from back in 2005 but I never installed it.
Bought my FujiFilm S2000HD camera about a year ago, it takes HD movies in .mp4 mode, not even sure what the details are. I have to use a video transfer program to change the movies into .avi mode or the like but I'd rather just find a movie editor that can directly handle the movie files straight from the camera. Video Studio 10 and 11 make the movies look blurry and much smaller than they are.
My apologies if there is a thread on this before, if so please kindly direct me there. I looked in the tools section of the homepage but I couldn't find exactly what I'm looking for. The only program that did what I want is called "AviDemux" but it doesn't offer text on the screen (like titles) and some other neat graphic transitions like the above movie makers do. Thanks for any advice.

First use mediainfo to identify the codec used. mp4 and avi are containers.
Fujifilm isn't clear in the specs whic codec is used
" 1,280 x 720 pixels [HD] (Max individual recording time: 15 min.) / 640 x 480 pixels / 320 x 240 pixels (30 frames/sec.) with monaural sound, with Electronic Image Stabilization "Recommends: Kiva.org - Loans that change lives.

Acording to dpreview, The codec is MJPG (motion JPeg).

You will need an MJPG codec installed for Premiere or Virtualdub to see it. Some free programs have the codec internal. AVIdemux would be one of those.Recommends: Kiva.org - Loans that change lives.

Thanks for helping me do some homework. I was wondering what the details are and was looking for one of those "id" programs. I ran the mediainfo program and it gave me the following results. I notice that it says in there "h.263" but I thought it was perhaps was supposed to be "H.264", don't know if that makes a difference. Yes, that AviDemux program seems to process the video fine, but it didn't offer additional features like adding in text titles and some graphic effects. You mentioned VirtualDub, does that offer text and titles? Here's the specs that mediainfo gave me:
