Captured with a Conexant C2388x chip, NTSC, 720x480, S-Video in, Digital Cable box source (MPEG-2 TS -> NTSC). Problem occurs regardless of capture software used.

Large splashes of orange color have vertical bands.

Lettering has blocks around the edges.

In the last shot, things seem fine (from the exact same source, no settings changed).

    Any ideas what's going on?

Have you checked the cable connection into your cable box. It looks like it might be a bad signal at that point You may have to disconnect and reconnect the cable line or maybe check if it is tight.

That looks like something is not connecting properly. Make sure the cables and the card itself sits tight.

I believe everything is connected properly. I can't make samples for now, my video card is bugged, but I'll make it next week.

    RS VP:

You didn't define your set-up too well. But this kind of distortion usually boils down to two things: electronic interference or a bad capture device. Are you running your equipment on a battery backup with a voltage regulator? Do you use shielded (Monster, preferably) cables? Are you lining the cable feed through any other device before it gets to your capture card? Is any type of heavy appliance running on the same circuit breaker as your equipment?

Try to look at those causes, then narrow down to the device. Post back any results/queries.
