  1. i got a fitness avi i want to convert to dvd, with only 3 chapter for each seperate session
is it best to split the avi into 4 then encode each one

i want 1 chapter to start with the intro and then another 3 start at each of the 3 parts of the routines
whats the best prog (free if poss) that will enable me to do this, without much to technical stuff

Keep it as a single title, then use an authoring tool that lets you place the chapters where you want them. TDA is a good beginners package and has a 30 day demo.

Use DivxtoDVD to create the VOBs, then TDA's Add Video option to import them and author your disk.

That is a hard question to answer. What WinAVI produces as output seems to depend more on which way the wild goats are facing on the eastern slopes of the himalayas at sunset than any ability the program itself has.

WinAVI is held in very low regard by many people here, and rightly so in my view. By all means, try it, and if it works, more luck to you.
