    Hello all,

I was wondering if anyone knows of a good program or way that will allow me to Author a DVD to insert Chapters where I want them to be, instead of specific time intervals.

Here is the scenario, I have .avi files of UFC fights, each event is broken down into two .avi files. I want to convert each event into DVD format, which I have no problem doing with DVD Flick, my problem is that DVD Flick will not let me put Chapters where I want them or create a menu.

Idealy I would like to throw the DVD into a player, that loads to a menu, and be able to select any fight I want to, as a chapter.

I am sure that there are many ways of doing this, and all info, and ideas would be welcome.

    Thank you

    GUIForDVDAuthor - Free
    TDA - Cheap
    DLP - more expensive
    DVD Workshop Pro

All of these can do it. However you would get the best out of them if you encode your video first. You can still do this in DVD Flick if you want, then use something like PGCDemux to get the video and audio tracks out again for authoring.

is each fight, a seperate AVI file

then convertXtoDVD will let you load them and create one DVD and each file/fight becomes a seperate slection in the main menu

GUI4GFD will let you load a file for authoring and select visual chapter points, BUT i have never used this option and don't know how well it works

No each fight is not separate, but each evernt eg. UFC 60, UFC 61 is split up into 2 .avi files. So two .avi's make up one DVD, and I want to make each fight selectable from the menu, or Chapter selection of the DVD.

To Guns1inger; I like your idea about using DVD Flick to convert the .avi to DVD, then Authoring the DVD how I want it, what program would be best for this. A question though, why would I need to get the Video and Audio out to author the DVD after converting it with DVD Flick?

You can use dvdflick (free) to create the video_ts folder then use tda 3 (not free) to author the dvd which will let you put chapters where you want. By the way, the current beta of dvdflick does allow you to create a very basic menu.

You could use TDA for everything but I find that TDA usually results in slight out-of-sync audio/video but it makes great menus so I use it for that. So just use the source wizard to import your video_ts folder into TDA and uncheck the import chapters box. Make sure you de-select the I Frame options in the TDA Video settings and when you create chapters otherwise it may re-encode which you don't want.

I can't find the I Frames option in TDA.

I had imported the Video_ts, and marked all of my chapters, when I realized that TDA is showing my video file to be 7876MB.....WTF. When I remembered what marioval said about the I Frames.

Any help on this would be appreciated, I have been using the link below for a Tutorial, and it does not have anything in the way of I Frame de-selection.
