  1. I make a big mistake and ordered 16X Ridata DVD+R instead of my usual 8X

My first couple of tries at burning with Nero resulted in failure at 1%. I then flashed my drive only to find that now it failed at 78%.

Trying to burn with Tsunami DVD Author Pro resulted in "Internal Error, Abnormal Command Sequence.

Ridata 8X has worked great for me before this.

Any one know how to get this to work?

Do you guys know if Supermedia will take this back?

If 16X can't work I'll just go back to my Ridata 8X

The Home DVD burning market is a crime! I shouldn't have to waste 2 seconds on this crap. I buy a burnable DVD and it should just work. Why don't they have ANY standards!!!! So this media can be burned at 16X, so what. My DVD burner should know it's own limitations and just burn at the speed it burns at.

There have been many problems with ritek dvd's lately. I would see about sending them back. Even those of us who used to like the ritek g02's and g03's, now hate the g05's. Stick with Verbatim 16x (mcc) media, fujifilm (made in japan), or Taiyo Yuden.

  3. Well I seem to have lucked out because my other computer with its DRU 510A burns these fine.

That's what's so maddening about the whole situation. It's completely arbitrary.

    Next Question:

My DRU 510A burns them fine and does it at 4X

My DRU 720A doesn't offer 4X when burning with NERO 6. It offer 6X, 8X and 16X. The drop down window changes to those choices AFTER I put the 16X medium in the drive. Why is that and how do I force it to burn at 4X?

Here's how it works in my Pioneer 108..
Nero 6 reads the speeds off the disk and uses that in the drop down list. If no disk is in the tray, then Nero displays the last configuration in the drop down list.

  5. But it is strange that it doesn't offer me 4X since that is the speed that my Sony DRU 510a uses with success.
