It could be a library that isn't present in 10.3.7 that is there in 10.3.9. (At least it's there for me.)

Try updating to 10.3.9.

I says in the error message.

/Applications/ffmpegX.app//Contents/Resources/ffmpeg undefined reference to _exp2f expected to be defined in /usr/lib/libSystem.B.dylib

It won't show up on a normal search, but if you open Terminal.app and write in "cd /usr/lib/ ; ls" (without quotes) you will see what's there. Chances are you won't find libSystem.B.dylib.
Edit: you can also use the "go to folder" command in the menubar in Finder (Shift+Command[Apple]+G).

I * found* libSystem.B.dylib exactly where you said, in usr...
so what's next ? ffmpegX is supposed to work in Panther *and* Tiger, at least it says so.
