i am trying to encode an avi file with ac3 audio and it gets to 50% and it stops..... can anybody tell me why this is happening and how to fix it.....

Have you tried encoding just the video and adding the AC3 in during the authoring stage? Assuming you are going to DVD. Using AC3 in the encoder may be the problem.

I suspect a problem with the file itself. I use XPress 3 all the time with the AC3 plugin on AVI with AC3 and no problem. Try running Virtualdub and extracting the audio and video and then add the video only to TMPGencXpress 3 and see hat happens. I'm betting on a corrupt avi, as tmpgenc products do really nice work but do not handle corrupt file gracefully as i would like. IOWs I;d like a better error message.

after i extracted the audio using virtual dub and i encode the video using tmpegnc express3 , how i add the audio.....
