  1. I am trying to transfer some VHS tapes to DVD. I just got a Pinnacle DC1000, so I dont have to wait for files to compile from DV. So I capture in Premiere 6 and import the files to DVD-lab were I author the DVD and compile it. Everything goes fine untill I play back the DVD and its jumping all over the place and out of sync. I checked the files outputted by the DC1000 and they look and sound great. Note, I am encoding a 9Mpbs CBR.

    Thanks

What media did you use ?

If could be that your player can't handle the bitrate, or that the media isn't good enough to serve that bitrate constantly to your player, or simply isn't good enough.

Before burning them to disk, play the files from your HDD using a good software player such as powerDVD (note: WMP is NOT a good software player for testing) to see how they behave.

  3. I am using WinDVD 5, and I hav'nt burned it yet. I was playing it directly off the hard drive. I also have the audio setting to lossless 48kz. Do you think if I compressed the audio it would help?

Uncompressed PCM would push the total bitrate above the spec maximum, but is should be OK playing back from HDD. What does the bitrate viewer in DLP say about the stream ?

I think, I just went over in total bitrate. I am going to convert the audio to 384 kb/s AC3, which I know has word for other people. What are some good AC3 incoders?

Or you could just take the video rate down to ~8Mb/s

  7. Yea, but that would mean I would have to rencode about 6 tapes.

I think it would just be easyer to find a Ac3 encoder, plus I would really like to get the best video quality.

ffmpeggui. If you only captured 2 channel stereo audio, convert it to 2 channel AC3 at 224 kbps. 384 or 448 are really only needed for multi-channel (4.0 - 5.1)
