I've been using dvdshrink (v103, though I've tried 23 and 3.1) to back-up my kids' dvds. I wanted to eliminate the tedious navigating through all the warning screens, trailers, and look-at-how-amazing-our-menus-are menu intros, while my 3 yr. old waits as patiently as a 3 yr. old can, which is not at all. v103 is great, because its really easy, just pick the biggest vob, check with the slider, and away you go. Now the fact that your kid knows what the eject button does isn't quite as financially challenging.
However, when the back-up starts to play, inevitably I get the director's comment audio, along with subtitles (which, while she's advanced, my 3 yr. old doesn't quite need, yet.) So, I still have to sit there with the remote and change all the settings. Kinda defeats the purpose.
Is there a way to edit the ifo once it's ripped, to tell the player what the audio and sub preferences are? The guides I've read through so far haven't directly addressed this issue. Can anyone tell me, or suggest a guide? I don't mind working a bit, or learning new software. Thanks.

In dvdshrink you can eliminate subtitles and audio commentary. All you want checked is either the main 5.1 audio track or 2.0 stereo (if its not in digital surround sound). You can have the dvd reauthored with just the movie and only one audio track. The chapter marks will still be intact though.

The first thing I'd do is update to the last version of DVDShrink (3.2 AFAIK). It has a preview so that you can test the audio streams one by one to make sure you're getting the right one, and of course you can just use reauthor mode to only get the main feature, and untick the other unwanted audio and subtitles.
If in doubt, Google it. -
OK, as far as the subs, it was a "DUH!" moment, in that i'm usually backing up my anime, in which subs can be important for a non-japanese speaking person such as myself, so thanks, Yoda. "Idiot you were, show many others I will."
As far as updating shrink (I would imagine that 3.2 is the last? Ever?), I hope that'll work. I noticed when backing up anime in 3.1 that even if I had un-ticked the english audio (leaving only the japanese audio), and started the preview window, it would still play the english audio track (which I presume is the default). Jimmalenko, is there a trick for checking audio streams, or is it evident in the latest shrink how to do so?occasionally larger than 255 characters -
