  1. Hello everyone, I'm trying to use DVD Shrink to make these VOB files smaller. I already Split this .avi into 2 seperate files, then converted each .avi file to VOB files with DivxtoDVD. I can burn the first part of the .avi file onto 1 dvd, with good quality but when I try to burn the 2nd part, it won't even fit on the DVD!! So I'm trying to use DVD shrink to make the VOB files smaller so they can fit onto a DVD so i can watch it on a stand alone dvd player. I loaded the .VOB files, and i clcked back up, it burnt the dvd super fast and i knew it was too good to be true, when i tried to play it in the dvd player it was black and white and the screen was going crazy. Reminded me of the time i tried to play a VCD in my dvd player. Any ideas on how i can minizie these .vob files so i can burn onto a dvd? Thanks.

Sounds like you are playing a PAL video on your NTSC TV, although since you split a single avi into 2 parts, I don't know why one would work and the other doesn't.

Try using DivxtoDVD on the original file. Then using DVD Shrink.

  3. Thats what I do, i use DivXtoDVD to make the VOB files then i use dvdshrink, but I found out DVDSanta works freaking great, I highly recommend it, now I don't have to use DivxToDVD then use INterVideoWinDVD to burn the VOB files, i can just use one program to do it all! encodes fast as hell too!

I don't understand why you would want to have a film split over 2 discs, especially as a dvd!! Stick to vcd/svcd then. Encode each part to mpeg2 (alter bitrate if need be for file size) and join with dvd authoring program. Use shrink after to reduce file size if need be. DVD Shrink will do it. You have to be close to 8.5gb upwards for it not to be able to do it. In which case, just run it through shrink again.
