A friend asked me to help him rip a small clip from an amateur video so that he could use it in a project. (The clip is of himself and he has permission to use it).
I showed him how to us VideoRedo to cut out the clip he wanted and get it into mpg format. We tested the clip by playing it with Windows Media Player and it worked fine.
He then called me back and said that when he imported this clip into Premier on his Lap Top and when played it makes a very distressing intermittent buzzing sound and the video plays choppy. He says none of his other clips have ever done this.
I don't use Premier and can't help him on this one. Any ideas?

Hi presto,
As you've used VideoReDo, I'm guessing the clip was in some kind of MPG format?
What version of Premiere? Only later versions (Pro 1.0 onwards I believe) can work with MPGs, and only then with a plug-in (I believe).
Premiere works best with DV AVI - the choppiness could well be as a result of (I'm assuming) placing an MPG on the timeline. As for the sound - not sure.
If you're familiar with it, show your friend how to load up the MPG clip (if it is MPG) and re-save it as DV AVI using something like the Panasonic DV Codec.
I've done this with VOBs from a DVD saved to DV AVI and then used in Premiere (6.0 and 1.5), and it worked beautifully. There is some corner of a foreign field that is forever England: Telstra Stadium, Sydney, 22/11/2003.
Carpe diem.
If you're not living on the edge, you're taking up too much room.
