My tv just started making this annoying buzzing sound, when there are bright scenes (sunlight, lamps, etc) There is a slight buzz during whole time, but very loud, and gets louder the brighter the scene. Happens on all dvds, store bought and backed up. Doesn't do it when just watching tv. Both the tv and dvd player are new (3 months old). Any ideas?

As far as I'm aware.... all TVs do this. I first noticed it when I had my ears syringed many years back! I could here a TVs tube change frequency depending on what it was displaying.
The brighter the picture/the higher pitch sound was emitted. It is odd that you only notice this on dvds though. Why is it doing that? -
It's not a high pitched sound. It's loud. You can hear it in other rooms sometimes, and I'm not the only one hearing it. All six people living here can hear it.

The tube has to be faulty then if its reacting that way
Why is it doing that? -
yep,thats the tv.
it may not be on its way out,but on a white screen persay, itll be a loud bizzing noise, sorta like buzzing in a headphone, its something to do with the tube, some cheap crappy tvs are like that, its like feedback on white light.hard to describe, but yeh tv problem it is,not dvd player based.
one thing, the louder the volume, even on an empty white screen, the louder the noise, yeh?LifeStudies 1.01 - The Angle Of The Dangle Is Indirectly Proportionate To The Heat Of The Beat,Provided The Mass Of The Ass Is Constant. -
I am not a TV expert but I'll take a shot at this!
The buzzing is caused by a parasitic oscillation caused when the circuits in the TV that control brightness are overloaded. Either going bad or are receiving a signal that is out of spec for signal level and the TV is unable to adjust the level.
Try turning the brightness level down. If this helps then you are most likely getting a signal that is to strong and overloading the AGC. If turning the brightness down does not improve the sound then you have a defective AGC.
Check on some TV service web sites for more complete information. -
looks like I will be sending this back to BB, it's only 3 months old...thanks for the help

I have the same problem. But, it's NOT the TV. I hooked a new component, a Roku, up to my big sony TV. I don't get any buzz except when I use the DVD: NOT from the cable, NOT from the VCR, NOT from the Roku. So, it's NOT the TV. I feel like I've used the wrong ports or have wire laying on top of each other. But, when the DVD player is showing bright scenes, the sound buzzes loudly. It's funny, though, because not all bright scenes do it. The buzzing changes pitch with different amounts of brightness. A daylight in the desert scene might drown out all the voice, its so loud. Dark scenes are either buzzless or nearly so--maybe just a very little buzz. But, bright scenes definitely do it most of the time. As the scene changes, so does the buzzing. What's the BUZZ.
Got any suggestions how to troubleshoot?
