  3. i am using avi2dvd software with an input of a divx file having an avi extension. when i press 'go' after a few minutes it gives out an error on a separate box of invalid filename

    I'll take a wild guess:

    Keep your filename less than 16 characters to be safe.

    Don't use symbols or expressions, just letters and numbers.

    Don't have the file buried down several levels, folders within folders within folders....

    Avoid using spaces in the filename, though that shouldn't cause problems.

    Or, your problem may be entirely different.

    Just a thought, but have you tried going to 'Tools>Folder Options>View' on the folder where the AVI is stored and unchecking 'Hide extensions for known filetypes'? Without that, you may not be seeing a file extension, just the word, '.avi' after the filename.

    Anyway, you should drop that file into Gspot or AVIcodec and see exactly what format it is. There are a lot of 'flavors' of Divx. You can post a screen shot here from one of those programs of the file. Someone should then be able to give you better advice.

  8. sorry guys, i was writing to the input, i changed the output to my harddrive, thanks , got new problem now of can't find decompressor, have to figure this one out again.
