Which editing software can I use to edit my dvds. What freeware program would you recommend? I will be trying this out for the first time.

IMHO the best freeware editor is virtualdubmod (and any of virtualdub's other variants). This is only good for simple cuts though - no transitions or anything like that unless you're adept at AVISynth scripts.

I've never used it for editing, but Windows Movie Maker comes with WinXP, is free and can do transitions, and also offers the choice of timelines or storyboards.
    If in doubt, Google it.

If you are working with MPEG files, Cuttermaran is one, or if you have TMPGEnc encoder, it can do simple edits. For more complex MPEG editing, MPEG Video Wizard is good but not free. Not much freeware for decent MPEG editing. In 'Tools' to the left, there are more choices.
