Hello,
I think I already know the answer to this question, but to be sure, here I am.
When using a KVM switch, do you HAVE to use all 3 inputs (ie. mouse, kb, and monitor)? Or can you pick and choose?
Why? I obviously have two computers and one monitor, hence the kvm switch. I want to use my wireless keyboard and monitor for both. For the mouse, I have my wireless optical mouse that I use more often but its usb and not PS2. I have a spare mouse which is PS2. Can I plug the PS2 mouse into the tower that I would use less often and plug the usb mouse into the tower I use more often, then use the KVM switch to go back and forth, using whichever mouse is appropriate?
I would think the answer is yes but just making sure.
Thanks in advance.

Yes. Or you can get a KVM that has USB hookups if both your keyboard and mouse are USB.

Well, I got this KVM for free so why not use it.
I bought a cheap wireless kb and mouse combo a year ago. They are both PS2 but the mouse has a rollerball and I hate it.
I have a spare USB mouse that I want to use on the PC I use more often (my surfing/processing computer) and then slap the rollercrap on the other PC (encoding and downloading).
Hence the question
But thanks a bunch Rally. I figured I could do it. One mouse hook up has nothing to do with the other if I am bypassing the KVM. Just wanted to be sure.
I appreciate the time.
