i tunes

Just wondering if anyone else has had trouble burning mp3 or cd's with i tunes, it says it cant complete burn or retry? It seems to be a recent thing.

is this a factory burner, or third party install

i tunes 4.7
Factory install, G4 mirror door
It used to burn no with no problems, but I cant remember if it was after the last software update or not, it starts to write the first song and then it says canceling disc burn in the activity window, then it spits the tray open with a message on the screen
Heres the exact message.
'The attempt to burn a disc failed, the device failed to respond properly, unable to recover or retry'
It dosent work if you try to burn a cd or mp3.

A few things to try:
Try cleaning the lens of the CD drive.
Radio Shack sells a good lens cleaner,
as does Office Max and Staples made by Fellows.

also, try a diffrent brand of CD-R media. Pick up some TDK,
Maxell, or HP Branded media.

I noted the SAME thing with mine since going to 4.7

I usually just get a 2nd cd and it will work then!

Tried lens cleaner, different media and re-trying but it still does not work, although I have no trouble backing up photos in iphoto?

I haven't had any problems since upgrading to 4.7. Sounds like you may wanna get Apple support involved.

I changed the prefered drive from the matshita to the pioneer dvr 105 and it works no worries, thanks for your help and ideas, it looks like I need a new cd burner, choices choices.
