Would another heatsink fan for a pent 4 3.0c northwood chip be better than the intel one? Reason why I am asking is at times bootup temp is 41C and while doing video encoding the temp goes up to 50-52 C. My mobo temp can go that temp as well. I already have 3 case fans and 2 slot fans which is housed in a ANTEC SLK2650-BQE case. I was thinking of getting another heatsink fan like a zalman or cooler master. Any comments on this will appreciated as always. Thanks in advance.

Friend upgrade from thee stock and dropped his running temps a bit. Not a major change but as how as his Preschott was running it was worth it. On the northwood I dunno.

I do know an overclocker friend of mine hates Zalaman.

The Northwoods have a max working temperature (not max safe) of 70 degrees C. Once the CPU goes beyond this, it slows down by itself to cool-off.

I have tried this with several CPUs of different clock speeds (all Northwood).

Therefore, I would consider the 55 degrees as a cool termperature.

Also, the Intel heatsinks and fans are enough for the CPUs (for nominal clock frequency) and the fans are especially reliable and silent.
The more I learn, the more I come to realize how little it is I know.
