  1. I used to make animated gifs with Adobe's Imageready. I always could open avi and/or mov files when the free quicktime player was installed.

Now it doesn't work anymore. I can open mov extensions but when I open avi I get a Quicktime message that there is software missing and it isn't available on the server.

    Anyone has a clue why?

I run Windows XP Pro and ImageReady 7.0

A codec may have changed or you're trying to open an AVI encoded with a codec that ImageReady doesn't like. It can be kinda picky about which formats it'll take in. If you've even got Windows Movie Maker try converting to a high-res WMV and importing that instead.

  3. I cannot import WMV in ImageReady, but I did convert the already avi file in WMM to an avi file and then it worked.

How about that, although the same type of file, WMM probably has different codecs because I innitially made the first AVI file with VirtualDub.

So you were right, its a codec thing. Thnx 8)
