Woohoooo, ARccOS support, yeah! It's already plenty fast for me in Variable mode, plus it allows me to choose exactly which audio tracks I want to leave out. Note that sweet dock icon progress bar from MTR 2.7... Been waiting for this one!

Most people don't have any problems ripping ARccOS DVDs with the latest version of MTR. If you're having problems, try it with a different drive. We can't make drives that refuse to skip over bad sectors suddenly work with MTR, as that's all handled by the OS through IOKit. If there are certain releases that won't rip with MTR on any drive, then that's news to us, and we need someone to send in those discs to us so we can get any problems with MTR fixed.

you mean isn't Constant Bit Rate quicker than Variable bit rate?

Answer: Yes, because Variable Bit Rate takes into account the
type of footage ( varying degrees of motion/action vs. talking heads/
static scenes) and encodes higher on static, less of action, whereas
Constant goes for the same bitrate all the way through.

So, if you are doing say the English Patient, Constant would be ok.
But doing something like say, Matrix Revolutions, you would want Variable.

WW, I have a External LG 5120D burner. dvd player and MTR does not work with it. When I put a dvd movie into my LG and open MTR, it says scanning on the bottom right side, but other then that it does not do nothing. To get MTR to read dvd movies I have to use my Mac Mini combo dvd drive and it works fine. Do you think there might be a compatible driver issue w/ my external dvd burner w/ MTR??

As for Toast or Dragon fire,, my LG works fine.

Terry, thanks for clearing that up. I have always used constant mode. So just to say, maybe variable would be better since its copys faster.

    Thanks

Regal, yes, there does seem to be a compatibility issue if DVD Player won't work with it. Not sure about any drivers, though you might try installing Patchburn and seeing if that does anything for you...
