I bought version 2.5 approximately one year ago. I see there is a new version available, but are there no updates available for us who have bought the older versions?

There's no mention of reduced price on xpress 4 for 2.5 owners but you could certainly talk to them about it.
Maybe ask for reduced price on xpress 3.

There is no new version for the 2.5 prduct line, Xpress 4 is a different product line.

There is a upgrade path $$ for Xpress 3 to Xpress 4. In short you bought one product that has ceased development and the new line has many more features such as AC3 and ease of use. No bitrate calc neededfor example it will let you set output size and it adjusts the bitrate and if needed the resolution when going to DVD format.

Sorry to have to say this but if you want the new version and its features you'll have to pay full AFAIK.
