  1. BeSweet has a nasty reputation of making incompatible AC3 streams from other formats. I need an app+directions on how to convert any audio stream that can be contained in an AVI/OGM/MKV container to AC3. Otherwise, settings on how to get BeSweet to output the AC3 files properly would be good too

The current process I use is either demuxing the audio (or save wav) in VirtualDubMod > Convert to AC3 with BeSweet and useing AC3 fix before remuxing. Works most of the time, but it often doesn't.

  5. 1) neoDVDPlus converts AVI video to DVD structure with AC3 audio in it, ready to burn to DVD directly. If I just want the AC3 audtio, then I use VobEdit to demux the VOBs files to AC3 and M2V files. The last two can be re-authored again with a different software to get better menu, chapters etc...
    2) reelDVD software takes MP2 or WAV and encode to AC3

  6. Getting the software isn't a problem, so long as it does the job. I'm sure to use it often. I only need it to convert audio as I use TMPGEnc Xpress to reencode the video part.

Seeing as VirtualDubMod can demux any audio stream to wav, reelDVD can convert it to DVD compliant AC3?

  7. TMPGEnc's $29 AC3 encoder works great with TMPGEnc Xpress.

  8. I don't encode Audio with TMPGEnc Products, it's not their specialty. I'm more concerned with results rather than price, in fact, price isn't an issue whatsoever.

If price IS NOT an issue, pay someone to do it for you..................oh, and lose that silly picture, what are you a 14 year old kid with an identity problem?

What results problems have you had with TMPGEnc's AC3 encoder? I get great results with it (and it's not just because I've been a pro recording engineer for 37 years - it's because it's an excellent encoder).

I was under the impression that ffmpeggui had sorted out its "compliance" issues?

  12. I use the TMPGEnc Xpress AC3 plugin to convert all my audio streams to AC3. I usually use it while converting DV but have used it to convert audio only in a couple instances.

TMPGEnc Xpress AC3 plugin is fine -- ALL lic'd dolby encoders are checked by dolby and use a common back end .. but different front end and some pre-proccessing ..

BeSweet simply uses the AC3 encoder from ffmpeg/liba52 and there are no longer any compliance problems it is just not well tuned, so the quality is not great.

  16. Pic's gone, was too big. I want to be able to do it myself, I won't be paying others.

I've had considerable sync problems when encoding both audio and video with TMPGEnc Plus/Xpress, that's why I always do it seperately. Since doing so I haven't had any sync problems, only the BeSweet compatibility problems.

ReelDVD's an Authoring app, no? I'm looking more for something that's main purpose is audio editing/encoding etc. Sony Vegas+DVD Production Suite is looking good. I'll be checking that out.

As for the TMPGEnc Xpress AC3 plugin, you've never had sync problems?

Not once. And I make a lot of DVDs for clients who are re-selling them so they have to be maximally compatible.

I also use Sony Vegas 5 but I frameserve out of it to TMPGEnc XP3 and then author with DVD-Lab (both of which accept the TMPGEnc AC3 plug-in).

  18. Thank you, I appreciate the help, I have both the AC3 plug-in and Sony Vegas+DVD PS, sadly there aren't many guides around for this software. Off to do some testing.

For 2 chanel (AC3 or MP2) then FFMPEGGUI is worth its weight in gold (and its feeware)....but only use its DEFAULT settings (192) as this setting seems to be the most tolerant and will work on 99.99% of all mp3 vbr's (dont ask me why as I DO NOT KNOW..it just works..no synch problems).
