Getting Illegal Disc

I'm trying to burn a DVD using Nero on a NEC DVD drive and am getting a Illegal Disc and can't burn-at-once errors.

I've gone thru the other posts about this and most people suggest a different media or different software, however:

(a) Other softwares are also producing this error
(b) I've tried other media (including Princo) and still doesn't work
(c) It was working with the same media before

Any other suggestions would be appreciated. I'm guessing that I have to do a firmware update but the DVD lists it as an NEC AD-1200 which I can't find on the NEC webiste. Anyone know which firmware dirvers I can use that are compatible ?

PS The drive does burn CDs (VCDs, Audio, etc) without problems.
