  1. As it stands now the only means to burn anything on my G5 PC is by opening iDVD. I have another program on it that burns MPEGs into DVDs but you need to save it as an image and burn it as one too. I also have a DVD ripper which I'm assuming requires to be burned under a similar principle in other words it's not just a .mov file I can drag onto iDVD and burn. Is there a way to burn image files or other using iDVD or do I have to get Toast or is there a free download that lets me burn image files etc. Also since I only have iDVD I have no way to burn CDs, but the first need is more pressing. Is Toast my only option? For now forget the fact that it might be my best, I will buy it eventually but is there a free download that'll do some of the basics I need?

Disk Utility burns DVD images, and is located in your Applications/Utilities folder. Also, to make DVD disk images in the proper format after you rip them to your hard drive, you can use the freeware DVD Imager to make a UDF disk image from a VIDEO_TS folder.
I like systems, their application excepted. (George Sand, translated from French), "J'aime beaucoup les systèmes, le cas d'application excepté."
