I have been using DIKO for AVI video conversions to MP2/MPV formats in preparation for DVD-LAB. However the converted files are "too small". It seems the files are converting to about 2500kbits/sec or so, as I can usually fit 2 movies on a single DVD disk. now on the one hand this is cool as the conversions are basically pretty smooth with minimal "digital blocking" and this is fine with alot of my movies. However there are some movies, some of my better AVI quality ones, that I dont want to lose the quality on, that I would want the converted movie to take the entire DVD space.

Is there a way, likely one of the *.INI files, that I can set the average bitrate to be something like 4500 kbits/sec?

DIKO will automatically calculate the highest possible bitrate so it will fit on one DVDR, if you then choose one movie the bitrate should be higher. Or have you tried it and it didn't work?

I have done it on individual moviesm one at a time. the resulting MP2/MPV files were small enuf from the separate conversions that I could use the files from both movies withi DVD-LAB to fit both on 1-disk. Is there some optio that should be set to make it using the highest possible bitrate or to set the disk size or something similar?

The movies I used were 1.5+ hours each of very good quality each in AVI format.
